Animal Welfare

APOWA have been alleviated fear, pain and suffering in countless animals’ lives, and defended the laws that protect them. We have been rescued, rehomed, relocated and rehabilitated thousands of animals. Caring animals with all protection having given to them opens of the starting point of the big race we have been in. Many families rely heavily on their animals so by improving the way they treat their animals we can also help improve their livelihoods offering the chance of a brighter future. APOWA dedicated itself to its mission for those animals in our society roaming around freely with injury, distress & fear. To rescue & rehabilitate the old, sick, injured & destitute animals. APOWA reflects its commitment to welfare of all animals through appropriate service at grass root level with the co-operation & help of

dedicated workers & volunteers.

 

APOWA’s Approaches:

1. Animal Treatment camps

APOWA reaches over thousand animals each year. APOWA is committed to reaching all of the animals suffering the most in the rural villages. We determined to make sure that these animals have a better life now through free treatment; food, shelter and cruelty free a happier future. Many families rely heavily on their animals so by improving the way they treat their animals we can also help improve their livelihoods offering the chance of a brighter future.

2. Rescue and rehabilitation of injured, sick, abandoned animals in distress.

Animal rescue is one of the most important parts of our mission. Whenever we find injured, sick or wounded animals, we treat and rescued that animal. In several cases we take it to our rescue home to rehabilitate. We provide round the clock service like; treating animals in pain and distress.

3. ABC and Anti rabies programmes:

APOWA's vital contribution towards the society and community has been the propagation of the control of the population of stray dogs in a humane manner. This has been achieved by the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Programme and the Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) Programme. APOWA conducts the sterilizations and vaccination against rabies of stray dogs each year.

4. Cruelty Cases Handled:

Whenever we find cruelty to animals we have raised our voice to stop it and contacted to nearest police station. APOWA Team trying its best to stop the horrible poaching of wildlife, such as monitor lizard, monkey, deer, snake etc.

5. Promotion of Humane Education

APOWA targets the future inheritors of this society and tomorrow's planners and administrators. School children are obviously the foundation of our future generation and have an important role to play in creating a happy future environment where man and animal peacefully coexist.

6. Formation of Karuna clubs:

The primary objective of Karuna club is to create awareness amongst students from the early stage of life and kindle their feelings of love, kindness and compassion towards all living beings- humans, animals, plants etc and protection of environment as enshrined in articles 51 A (g) of the constitution of India. This is also in accordance with our age-old rich cultural heritage.

DUTIES OF KARUNA CLUB MEMBERS: -

1)     Members are to develop qualities of love, non-violence, compassion, humanism, peaceful

coexistence, friendship with nature and understand the need of freedom of all living creatures.

2)      They must everyday save some food from their meals and feed cows, dogs, cats, crows, sparrows, goats etc in their neighborhood.

3)     If an animal is in helpless and pitiable condition or is wounded, they should send that animal immediately to the veterinary hospital with the help of an adult person.

4)     Every member should plant a new sapling/tree every year and look after it every day.

5)     He must also be vigilant enough to protect the environment and save it from pollution of any kind.

6)     He must thriftily use and consume Natural resources like water, trees, power, forest products and assist in their rational management.

7)     He must avoid the use of animal products got out of cruelty and killing and use man made or artificial alternatives.

8)     He must learn the merits of vegetarian way of living follow it and propagate it amongst friends, students and family members in the society. A vegetarian diet means diet from vegetation and dairy products obtained without any cruelty or killing of creatures.

9)     He should actively take part in all activities conducted by the club.

10) He should adopt the stray, orphanage animals and birds. 

7. Campaign on stop/ban of an animal sacrifices in temples:

Our efforts and campaign is going on to completely ban and stop of animal sacrifices in temples and illegal animal transportations, animal slaughters etc.

8. First Aid training programmes for volunteers

We are in a natural disaster prone area, in which the villagers should need to know about basics of first aid treatment of animals. Handling of injured animals, identification of wounds and cuts, vaccination, administration of medicines and injections to animals, understanding animals through gestures, post-operative care. The young men, volunteers with elementary education up to Class X were trained in basic care of animals. These included diagnosing and treating common diseases, applying first aid, understanding the importance of avoiding zoonotic diseases, rainwater harvesting, use of bio-fertilizers, maintenance of animal shelters etc.
